We started meeting with Carson Oil in 2014. Carson has been in Portland since 1938 and currently ranks 18th on Oregon’s top 150 privately held companies. In need of a more modern identity, we set out with their internal team to develop a new, cleaner look which also paid homage to the long standing local company and existing logo.
For the logo rebrand we kept the existing company blue colors and made it their primary corporate color. The Carson name was made the dominate feature of the new mark with a font style comparable to the old. The new type has a more dominate, bolder visual and is leaning to help express Carson's forward movement thinking. Since Carson has been a carrier of oil for many decades, we appropriated the bird symbol form the old logo to honor the long standing carrier services. Finally, the "Oil Company, Inc." was dropped from the logo and name as Carson has developed into a company and brand which reaches far beyond their initial beginnings as an oil business. The new logo and brand help distinguish Carson as a 21st century company.
